What Is An Energy Audit?

What is an energy audit and do I need one? A KC home energy audit will help you determine how much energy your home is consuming and help you find the problem areas.
What is an energy audit

What is an energy audit:

A home energy audit is your first step in making your home more efficient, safer and more comfortable. An energy audit, also known as a home energy assessment, can help you find out how much energy your home uses and also evaluates the measures you should take to improve efficiency. Don’t forget, energy audits alone don’t save energy. You need to implement all the recommended improvements in order to save money!

What does an energy audit include:

  • Blower Door Testing (which tests for air leaks, balancing of air distribution, duct leakage and air exchange)
  • CAZ Test (Combustion Appliance Zone)
  • Take Off (Thumb print of floor plan) with Efficiency Report
  • Complete Report & Recommendations for Improvement with best ROI (Return on Your Investment).

Call Henges Insulation to set up your KC energy audit! Henges’ experienced team is dedicated to providing you with superior customer service.

Electric Fireplaces

Electric fireplaces have become very popular! One of the biggest benefits is the ability to move the fireplace anywhere in your home.

Electric Fireplaces

How do Electric Fireplaces Heat

  • An electric fireplace utilizes metal coils to create heat.
  • A blower motor forces the heat in to the open.
  • Since only the coils are heated, there is no danger of getting burned
  • Be careful to not have upholstered furniture or drapery too close to an electric fireplace

How They Create Flames

  • Most electric fireplaces have a realistic looking flame with a regular light bulbs and refracting the light. Once the light is refracted, it creates the illusion of a dancing flame.

Whole Units vs Inserts

  • Electric fireplaces can be purchased as a stand alone unit.
  • Your electric fireplace can be plugged in to any standard electrical outlet.
  • If you already have a fireplace, you can purchase electric inserts to use instead of building a real wood burning fire. The insert works the same as the whole unit. It simply needs to be placed in the firebox of the existing fireplace.
