When choosing insulation, you need to determine the overall R-value of the insulation you need for your home.  What is R-Value and why does it matter?

What Is R-Value

What is R-Value:

  • Measure of thermal resistance or the ability to prevent the transfer of heat
  • The larger the number, the harder that insulation is working at preventing heat conduction
  • The less heat loss, the lower your energy bills

How much R-Value should you have:

  • Walls should be R-19
  • Roofs should be R-30 or R-40
